Common task: update job title, company, phone, or custom UM fields from a spreadsheet — while leaving each member’s email address untouched.
Pro is strongly recommended so you can lock Email to “Never update”, use Update only, and limit which fields are written. Free can upsert profile fields if email is only used as the match key and you don’t map a different email value — but it lacks per-field “never update” protection.
Pro workflow (recommended)
- Prepare CSV columns, for example:
email,job_title,company. - Go to UM Export → Import.
- Step 1: mode = Update only, match = Email.
- Step 2: map columns.
- Email → Email, on-update rule = Never update
- job_title / company → Always overwrite (or Default)
- Set Fields to update = Update only these fields… → select job_title and company (not email).
- Step 3: keep skip-blank on → dry-run → run (background if large).

Free workaround
- CSV must use each member’s current correct email in the match column.
- Mode = Create or update (upsert); match = Email.
- Map email + the profile fields to change.
- Enable On update, skip blank CSV cells.
- Do not put a new/different email in the CSV if you don’t want addresses changed — Free cannot mark Email as “Never update”.
- Max 500 rows per file.
If you need guaranteed email lock + update-only (no accidental new accounts), use Pro.
