Most “email your users” plugins dump you into a campaign builder built for newsletters. UserMailer is the opposite: one admin screen, three clear steps, and your existing WordPress users as the list.

Pick who gets it, write what you want to say, hit send. Works with the plugins you already run — WooCommerce, Ultimate Member, Gravity Forms, WPForms, and more unlock automatically when they are active.

## Email in three steps

The Send Email screen walks you through a progressive wizard. You can go back at any time. Nothing is sent until you confirm on the last step.

- **Step 1 — Who** — Everyone, by role (with live counts), specific people via search, WooCommerce segments, or form submitters.
- **Step 2 — Write** — Subject, TinyMCE HTML body, personalisation chips, optional background queue, save as template, Reply-To / CC / attachment.
- **Step 3 — Send** — Receipt-style review of To, subject, and body. Send a `[TEST]` copy to yourself, then confirm.

## Send to exactly the right people

Audience targeting is built around WordPress users — not imported CSV lists. When WooCommerce or a form plugin is active, those segments appear automatically.

- **Everyone** — All registered users with an email address.
- **By role** — Multi-select role chips with live counts. Roles with zero users stay hidden.
- **Specific people** — Search by name or email, pick recipients, manage them as tags.
- **WooCommerce** — Paying customers, min lifetime spend, ordered in last N days, win-back (no order in N days), product buyers, category buyers, coupon users, download permissions.
- **Form submitters** — Gravity Forms or WPForms entries, optional date range. Includes guest emails from form entries. WPForms needs Pro entry storage.

## Personalise without token syntax

Click a chip labelled “First name” or “Site name” — UserMailer inserts the token at the cursor. Each recipient gets their own values. Guests from form submissions receive the message without merge replacement when they have no WordPress account.

- **Core** — First name, last name, display name, email, username, user ID, site name, site URL, today’s date.
- **Custom meta** — “More fields…” discovers public usermeta keys as one-click chips.
- **WooCommerce** — Total spent, order count, last order details, billing/shipping city, coupons, downloads.
- **Ultimate Member** — Profile URL, account URL, role, account status, profile completion %.

**Large lists stay responsive.** Check “Send in background” and UserMailer queues messages, dispatching 25 per minute via WP-Cron. The Email Log shows queued, sent, and failed status per recipient.

## Templates, log, and delivery health

- **Saved templates** — Save subject + body while composing; load them on the next send; manage them on a dedicated Templates screen.
- **Email log** — Recipient, subject, audience label, status, and timestamp. Delete rows or clear the log.
- **Health notices** — Warns if WP-Cron looks broken for the queue, or if no SMTP / transactional mailer is detected.
- **Attachments** — Optional file on immediate send (PDF, Office docs, images, ZIP, CSV, TXT).

- **Gravity Forms & WPForms** — Form-submitter audiences with optional date filters.
- **Ultimate Member** — Merge tokens and user-search badges (role, status, completion).

- **SMTP plugins** — Detects WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP, and common transactional mailers; recommends one if none is present. Sending uses `wp_mail()`.
